Open Call for Artists — illustrating climate misconceptions
We're looking for artists who care about climate change and can turn what the science says into art people want to look at, understand and share. Style is completely open — illustration, painting, comic, manga, graphic design, digital or analog. AI-generated artwork won't be accepted.

Call open — send your portfolio, a short bio, and a few lines on why you'd like to take part.

Public exhibitions in Madeira, Greece, Finland, Ukraine and Spain — plus online.
Open to artists resident in an EU member state or Ukraine. Send a portfolio, short bio and motivation to info@mymadeiraisland.com — subject line "CLIMAware Call for Artists – [Your name]".
Get to know the project
Three ways in — the story, the people behind it, and the free tools it's building.
What's happening, 2026–2028
From evidence to action: how CLIMAware turns research into tools people actually use, in phases over the project's two-year run.
A cross-national survey (500+ people, 5 countries) and a scientific literature review map the most common climate myths and how they spread — validated by an international Expert Advisory Board of climate scientists.
The evidence shapes two flagship outputs: artist-illustrated Climate Change FactSheets and an interactive, multilingual Climate Media Literacy ToolBox — both shaped and refined through direct user testing.
A hybrid fact-checking workshop in Finland brings together citizens, journalists, educators, scientists and policymakers to put the ToolBox and FactSheets to the test, producing a Citizen Science Report with best practices.
One citizen science workshop in each partner country — tailored to rural, urban, academic and conflict-affected communities — builds local hubs for lasting climate media literacy.

CLIMAware goes live
We're launching CLIMAware: a European project fighting climate disinformation through media literacy, science and creativity. Five countries, one mission.
A milestone for CLIMAware: our first in-person meeting
From 1–3 July, our partners gathered in Madeira, hosted by My Madeira Island, for three days of exchange on art, storytelling and behavioural change — including community work removing invasive plant species.
